Description:
A sword with a retractable blade used by Hector (Eric Bana) in the adaptation of Homer´s great epic Troy, co-starring Brad Pitt and Orlando Bloom. After falling for the beautiful Helen (Diane Kruger), Trojan prince Paris (Orlando Bloom) smuggles her aboard his ship to take her to Troy. Seeking revenge, the Greek armies led by Agamemmon (Brian Cox) and the legendary warrior Achilles (Brad Pitt) set sail for Troy, where one of history´s greatest wars will be waged.
This sword was used by Hector during the intense combat sequences in the film, in particular his violent fight with the Greek warrior Ajax (Tyler Mane),the beach battle and the ambush in the Apollos Temple.
This particular Hector sword match on screen when Hector (Eric Bana) fight with the Aquiles (Brad Pitt) warriors in the Apollos Temple.
Fitted with a retractable blade for accurate stabbing action during film, the sword blade is made of plastic with a heavy aluminium and resin grip. The entire sword is given a bronze paint finish with white inlay along the blade. The paint finish is mostly complete with only minor paint chips and cracks in the grip and blade.
The mechanism has been damaged during use on set so the blade can be depressed but will not return to its standard position without manual assistance. To accept the modifications to the blade , the length of the blade had to be cut, which was then wrapped with bronze painted foil to hold the two halves of the blade together. Some of this foil has come away during use on set and time in storage but remains largely intact.
In remarkably good condition considering its heavy use during filming, the sword measures 70 cm (27.5”) long and is 9cm (3.5”) wide at the widest part of the blade.
