Zorro’s long blue coat from the production of Martin Campbell’s 1998 swashbuckling adventure film The Mask of Zorro.
Alejandro (Antonio Banderas) is a young thief looking to avenge the death of his brother. He is discovered by an aging Zorro (Anthony Hopkins) who teaches him all he knows, so that he can one day become the legendary Zorro.
This coat was made specially for the production and features in the scene where both Zorro’s go undercover during a party at the villainous Governor’s (Stuart Wilson) home. The younger Zorro is disguised as a Spanish nobleman and the older Zorro his servant. Banderas is wearing this coat throughout the party.
This tuxedo-style coat with tails is made of blue velvet and features ruffles attached in the sleeves. As it was made specially for Banderas it features no sizing labels, but does have one which reads ‘A.B. #2’.
The coat has some wear from production use and age. The blue has become faded in some areas, becoming more of a purple, and there are small areas of staining. Despite this the coat remains in a good condition.
