In the film Winona Ryder plays Susanna Kaysen, who is admitted to Claymoore Hospital due to an anxiety disorder. There, Susanna meets Lisa, played by Angelina Jolie, with whom she strikes up a close friendship. The gray beanie was purchased by the production for use by the actress, as part of the wardrobe designed by Arianne Phillips for the character of Susanna. The beret retains the wardrobe tag indicating the scenes (58,59,60 and 61) in which it was used, as well as the sequential number of the actress's change (17).
